Job Description

The principal role of a library prefect is to be responsible for the issue desk during the break and lunchtime sessions. This enables the librarian to deal with any enquiries and ensure that students are behaving appropriately. Duties include issuing and discharging books, collecting overdue fines, checking items on the computer catalogue, giving assistance to those needing help with the photocopier, processing new books, shelving novels and other clerical duties as required. Attendance is required once a week, either during morning break or for the first / second half of lunchtimes.

Prefects are expected to be punctual and reliable as they provide vital help to the librarian at very busy times during the day. They should be able to work under pressure, be neat and methodical and enjoy interacting with other students of all ages.
