All year 12 students are invited to apply for these posts.
The process
Students have to put themselves forward for selection by submitting their names to their form teacher at nomination time.
Job Description
House Prefect
The most important aspects of this post are concerned with establishing and maintaining a good spirit in the school. Hard work and dedication, as well as confidence and flexibility are needed. The following is a list of specific tasks and responsibilities which the House Prefect would be expected to carry out:
- To be a role model in terms of attitude, industry, manners and appearance to the form to which you are assigned.
- To help the form teacher in the conduct of form business where required.
- To be responsible for submitting the house point totals of the form, at regular intervals, to Mr Doyle.
- To help in the organisation of form and whole house contributions to:
- Christmas Fair
- Summer Fair
- Competitions
- Outings
- Assemblies
- Charity work
- The School Council
- To socialise with the form and help to deal with queries and minor problems and refer students to HEAR 4 U or the pastoral team if appropriate.
- To organise a daily cleaning rota for their form and collect cleaning materials at lunchtime for their form room.
- To record the form’s house points during form period.
- To liaise with the House Captains over activities which the form would like to pursue.
- To carry out any duties as required.
- To present an end of term report to the school in the final assembly and to take one school assembly per term.
- To wear the house captain's badge.
