Role of Careers Prefect

The careers prefect will supervise the careers room one lunch hour per week and generally help the Head of Department with the organisation of the careers room. Two careers prefects will work together each lunch hour.

The careers prefect should:

  • Actively encourage the use of the careers resources and promote the use of these resources by setting a good example
  • Answer students’ enquiries
  • Direct students to the appropriate careers resource
  • Ensure responsible behaviour in the careers room
  • Tidy and sort all careers resources at regular intervals
  • Clear notice boards of materials which are out of date
  • Assist Head of Department in various aspects of careers work with the school if asked to do so
