Adverse weather procedures

Please note that in the event that the school is closed due to extreme weather:

  • A senior member of staff comes to the school to inform any students or parents who arrive at the school
  • A message is put on the school answer phone
  • A prominent message is put on the school’s website
  • An email and a text are sent to all parents who have registered with the school’s ParentMail system
  • Three Counties radio, Mercury FM and Radio Verulam are informed and announce the closure at regular intervals
  • Updated information regarding school closures throughout Hertfordshire will be available at http://www.hertsdirect.org

Please note that, even if the rest of the school is closed, public examinations WILL take place for those candidates who are able to get to the school.

Welcome to St Albans Girls' School

We are proud of our school and rightly so. Not only do we achieve excellent public examination results at all levels but we have a superb extra-curricular programme with a wealth of activities for all age groups. The atmosphere in the school is exciting and vibrant because the girls are always busy.

We encourage all girls to be aware of the needs of others and every year they collect several thousands of pounds for different charities. We have a very good sporting record and the house system encourages healthy competition.

We are a very active school with highly effective and committed staff. Our activities are too many to mention so please take time to browse through the website and see what STAGS is really like.
